Big Numbers Privacy Policy

Welcome to Big Numbers. I take your privacy seriously and am committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how I collect, use, store, and disclose your information when you use my financial tracking application (the "App" or "Service").

1. Information I Collect

Financial Data

  • Transaction Data: Information about your financial transactions including dates, amounts, descriptions, categories, and merchant names.
  • Account Information: Basic information about your connected financial accounts needed to display your financial data.
  • Bank Connection Data: Access tokens that allow the app to retrieve your financial information from your bank via banking partners.

Biometric Data

  • Face ID/Touch ID Usage: When you enable biometric authentication, the app uses your device's biometric capabilities to secure access to your financial information.

Device Information

Information about your device including operating system, unique device identifiers, and crash data for troubleshooting.

2. How I Collect Your Information

Banking API Integration

  • Plaid or Teller API: I use Plaid and/or Teller to connect to your financial institutions. When you link your accounts, these services securely transmit your financial data to the app.
  • Direct User Input: Information you provide when configuring the app, such as preferences and settings.

On-Device Storage

I collect and store information directly on your device to enable offline functionality and improve performance.

3. How I Use Your Information

Core Functionality

  • Financial Analysis: To calculate and display your daily, weekly, and monthly spending.
  • Transaction Processing: To categorize and organize your transactions.
  • Offline Access: To cache your transaction data for use when you don't have internet connectivity.

Security

  • Authentication: To verify your identity when you access the app, including through biometric authentication if enabled.
  • Secure Storage: To ensure your financial data is properly secured on your device.

Note: I do not use your personal data for advertising, marketing, or share it with third parties for commercial purposes.

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

I do not share or sell your personal information with third-party entities for marketing or any unrelated purposes.

However, I may rely on the following service providers:

  • Plaid (https://plaid.com): To connect with your financial institutions and retrieve transaction data.
  • Teller (https://teller.io): An alternative provider for connecting with your financial institutions.

These providers are contractually obligated to protect your data and use it only as necessary to perform their services.

I may disclose your information when required by law, subpoena, or other legal processes.

5. Data Storage and Security

Storage

  • Your financial data is primarily stored locally on your device.
  • Access tokens for banking connections are stored securely in your device's Keychain.
  • Transaction data is cached on your device for offline use.

Security Measures

  • I use the iOS Keychain for secure storage of sensitive information.
  • Biometric authentication (Face ID/Touch ID) is available to prevent unauthorized access.
  • All locally cached data is properly encrypted.
  • Cache expiration management ensures your data is refreshed regularly.

Data Retention

  • I keep your data only as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service.
  • Cached transaction data expires automatically after a defined period (default: 1 hour).
  • When you reset the app or disconnect a bank account, I thoroughly clean all associated data.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Access and Control

  • You can view all your financial data directly within the app.
  • You can enable or disable biometric authentication in Settings.
  • You can choose between different banking API providers (Plaid or Teller).
  • You can disconnect bank accounts or reset the app completely at any time.

Data Deletion

  • You may completely reset the app and delete all local data by using the "Reset App" function in Settings.
  • When disconnecting a bank, all associated tokens and data are removed from your device.

7. International Users

This app is designed for users in the United States. If you access or use the App from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed differently than where you reside. By using the App, you consent to these transfers.

8. Children's Privacy

My Service is not directed to children under the age of 13, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided me with personal information, please contact me so I can remove the data.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in my practices or for other operational, legal, or regulatory reasons. If I make material changes, I will notify you through the app prior to the change becoming effective.
